Dirty air conditioner filters will cause both personal comfort and health issues.  As far as comfort goes, you will experience less cooling and higher temperatures within your home.  This is not a good situation on extremely hot days.  Higher temperatures can easily be avoided with a system in perfect working order.  Finally, dirty filters can reduce indoor air quality.  The air in your home will be dirtier with more dust and even debris in the air within your home.  Respiratory problems and allergies can be aggravated and may require medical attention.  Medical bills will cost you more money.
